في أجواء الخيال العلمي الممزوجة بمشاهد الحركة،تدور أحداث الفيلم في العصر الحديث وتحديدًا في اليابان. يواجه وولفرين ألد أعدائه في عالمٍ غير مألوفٍ تمامًا، حيث يخوض معركة حياةٍ أو موتٍ مع الساموراي القاتل. ولكن على الجانب الآخر من المعركة يخوض وولفرين معركةً من نوعٍ آخر وهي معركته مع نفسه، ينفجر صراعٌ داخليٌ بداخل وولفرين يجعله ضعيفًا إلى حدٍ ما. ولكن في قلب المعركتين تبزغ قوةٌ جديدةٌ له ليعيد اكتشاف نفسه.
