تدور أحداث الفيلم في إطار خيالي حول الشبح السائق (جوني)، الذي يعقد معه (مورو) اتفاقا بخلاصه من الشبح الذي يسكن جسده لقاء إحضاره للطفل (داني)، والذي يتضح فيما بعد أنه ابن الشيطان (رورك) الذي أنجبه من (ناديا) بعدما أنقذها من الموت؛ ليكون خليفته في الأرض ينقل له كل قواه، كما كلف مساعده (كريجن) بعد تزويده بقوة خارقة بنفس المهمة، ومن هنا يتصارع (جوني)، و(كريجن) للحصول على (داني)، حتى ينجح مؤخرا (رورك) بمساعدة (كريجن) في الحصول عليه، وأثناء مراسم انتقال قوة (رورك) لـ(داني) يذكره (جوني) بحقيقته الطيبة، وينجح في ذلك؛ فيمده (داني) بقوته، ويسعى معه لإنقاذ العالم.
