تدور أحداث الفيلم حول (ألكسا) الأميرة الخجول التي تكتشف وجود باب سري في مملكتها ، والتي تدخلها إلى أرض غريبة يسكنها الكثير من الكائنات الخرافية ، وفي هذه الأرض تقابل الأميرة (ألكسا) جنية ، وعروسة بحر ، اللتان تخبرانها بأن هناك حاكما مدللا يسعى للسيطرة على كل السحر في هذه الأرض .
