Serving as the final pay per view before WrestleMania XIV, No Way Out's scheduled main event featured an 8 man tag pitting D-Generation X & The New Age Outlaws vs Stone Cold Steve Austin, Cactus Jack, Chainsaw Charlie and Owen Hart. On the WWF's Shotgun Saturday Night & Superstars television shows, it was revealed that Shawn Michaels sustained an injury while training and it was likely that Shawn wouldn't be competing at the pay per view.
