There are currently 3 Courses available that go over Fundamental Positioning in Combat Sports and how you can apply these into your own training. Patreon here: https://www.patreon.com/c/prostriking In this breakdown, we look at how some of the best Muay Thai fighters use hand control and wrist grabs to disrupt punches, create elbows, manage pressure and find their way into the clinch. Using examples from Superlek vs Rodtang, Petchmorakot vs Yodsanklai and Seksan, we explore how the smaller ONE Championship gloves change the relationship between striking and grappling. The fingerless gloves make it easier to manipulate an opponent's hands and arms at punching range, but can also make sustained control more difficult once the fight moves into the clinch. We also look at how Superlek used hand fighting to slow Rodtang's pressure, how Seksan uses hand control as part of his aggressive combinations, and how the same tactics can be used against pressure fighters to prevent them from building momentum. This isn't a new technique in Muay Thai, but the 4oz gloves create some interesting tactical differences that are easy to miss when you're focused purely on the strikes thrown.
