“Wendo wa Giko” is a Kikuyu vernacular phrase that translates to “dirty love.” The song tells the story of a woman who is unfaithful to her partner, cheating, going out with other men and drinking heavily. After being involved with other men, she eventually wants to return to her husband and the relationship she once had. However, her actions have changed everything. The husband is deeply hurt and can no longer feel the same love or attraction toward her. “Wendo wa Giko” explores betrayal, regret, lost trust, and the consequences of being unfaithful in a relationship.
