Content Creators, Influencers & TV Presenters — Where Does One Role End and Another Begin? The rise of social media has completely changed what it means to be a media personality. A person can build an audience on TikTok, Instagram or YouTube, become an influencer, transition into television and eventually become a recognised presenter — while traditional TV presenters are increasingly expected to build their own digital followings and create content beyond the television screen. So, what actually distinguishes a content creator, influencer and TV presenter? Is it the platform they work on, the size of their audience, their ability to present, or the type of content they produce? And as these worlds increasingly collide, can someone move seamlessly from one space to another? Should a successful content creator automatically be considered capable of presenting on television? Can a TV presenter become an influencer without compromising their credibility? And does having a large social-media following necessarily translate into being a good presenter? With traditional broadcasting and digital media becoming increasingly interconnected, are these still three separate professions — or are they simply different forms of being a modern media personality? The bigger question: Should the boundaries between these spaces or should the boundaries be there #SuperSport
