This series of four films produced by the Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative of Harvard Kennedy School depicts companies and communities in varying degrees of conflict in three different parts of the world. It conveys how they looked for a way out through dialogue, and used a neutral third-party mediator to help them craft a process allowing each party to have its concerns heard, and enabling them to progressively resolve their core conflicts. The three main films in the series are 'Making Monkey Business,' about a hydro-electric power plant and surrounding communities in the Philippines, 'Putting Ourselves in Their Shoes,' about a copper mine and indigenous communities in the Peruvian Andes, and 'The Only Government We See,' about an oil and gas company and local communities in the Niger Delta. The stories are told uniquely in the voices of those who took part: community members, company representatives, non-governmental organizations and the mediators. A fourth film, 'Corporate-Community Dialogue: An Introduction,' draws out those three stories' shared themes and lessons in a pedagogical compilation.
