CRYPTIC CHARACTERS | Wrestlings Most Mysterious Gimmicks Part of what separates wrestling from things like MMA or boxing is that, while those sports have legit fighting on their side, they’re often focused more on that than on the characters involved. Sure, some figures like Connor McGregor or the Floyd Mayweather may know how to cut a promo and draw people into the building but, you’re not going to see anything otherworldly and mysterious in a UFC octagon like you might see inside a WWE ring. And that freedom has led to wrestling promoters being able to create characters with a real sense of mystery over the years, ones which have been able to draw fans attention with the question as to what’s really going on with them.
