On April 30, 2022, Shakur Stevenson defeated Oscar Valdez by unanimous decision in a 12-round super featherweight unification bout for the WBC, WBO, and The Ring titles at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. Stevenson controlled the fight with his jab, movement, and defensive skills, outboxing Valdez for most of the rounds and winning clearly on the scorecards (117–110, 118–109, 118–109).
