Sabine De Barra (Kate Winslet) is nominated to work in the landscape design for the Palace of Versailles, and collaborates with architect André Le Nôtre (Matthias Schoenaerts). She slowly becomes attracted to him, which makes her renegotiate with the dangerous rivalries and the basic rules of King Louis XIV's palace (Alan Rickman).
