On March 1, 2025, Subriel Matias defeated Gabriel "Gollaz" Valenzuela by TKO in the 8th round in a 12-round IBF super lightweight title eliminator at the Coliseo Tomás Dones in Fajardo, Puerto Rico. Matias gradually took control with relentless pressure and heavy combinations, breaking Valenzuela down round by round before the referee stopped the contest at 2:55 of round 8 after a sustained barrage of unanswered punches.
