The fighters first met in 2023, with Usyk successfully defending the WBA, IBF, WBO, IBO, and The Ring titles via ninth-round stoppage. However, the bout was not without controversy as a punch from Dubois in the fifth round was deemed a low blow by the referee, who then allowed Usyk nearly four minutes to recover.
