Death Brings Roses
And of course i say "not bad" with a caveat, because the reason I gave this a 4 out of 10 score was exactly because of how cheesy and somehwat poorly shot it was, at least by todays standards. It was almost a 5, but I cant rate things as 4.5 etc, so...its gotta be a 4, but I liked the film just a tad. I miss the older films and tv shows that have that slight washed out look to them. As well as the slower, abysmal acting that was present in older cinema, both indie and mainstream. And though the synopsis for the film gives a fairly accurate and to the point description of how things go in the movie, I found myself liking the characters and the sights of New Orleans all those decades ago as if I was there. Just like how people enjoy "B Movie nights" or crummier horror films because they are so bad, they end up being kinda good in peoples minds as cult classics, Death Brings Roses falls into that category very slightly. It has a lot of the exploitative qualities from that bygone era of film which is a part of cinematic history that shouldnt be forgotten. Most people shouldnt expect much from this. AS I said, this film is old, and many will immediately not like it. But if you like cheesy old flicks to laugh at or just kinda feel strangely nostalgic, it doesnt hurt to have a few drinks with some friends while watching this film. Many drinks. :P.
