The 2018 Day of Data was centered around Data on Earth. It featured a keynote speaker and several panels. The event was held in the Sterling Memorial Library's lecture hall.

He directs New Mexico’s National Science Foundation (NSF) and Department of Energy EPSCoR (Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research) Programs and the Data Observation Network for Earth (DataONE).
