The two legends met in the ring at Royal Rumble 1996, but Diesel cost The Undertaker the championship. This set up a match between Diesel and Undertaker at WrestleMania XII. After WrestleMania, Mankind made his WWF debut and went straight for The Undertaker. The remainder of 1996 featured Undertaker working with Mankind while also finding time to have matches with the likes of Goldust and Stone Cold Steve Austin.
