This review might reflect that I was under the influence of psilocybin, during the movie and that I, simply refuse to live a life, without these substances -> I would recommend: That this movie, should be a must show to the students, in every public school in the entire world, because I know that most parents don't even mention the positive side to these drugs The only The only reason the 9 stars isn't a 10, is because, he did not take the trip, outside USA and made it into a tv-series.
As a psychonaut I thought the visual effects throughout this film were by far the best examples of the visual distortions while on LSD or psilocybin, provided the dose ranges referenced. Shane's articulation of his experiences on psychedelics is as clear and as entertaining as one can hope for. I recommend watching for entertainment purposes mostly but there's also a lot of facts and educational material throughout the film. Didn't feel boring during those parts as the editing balanced everything quite nicely.
I watched this last night and was pleasantly surprised, as someone told me it was somewhat rudimentary. I think it was honest and raw and gives people something to think about, and fear, in the wrong circumstances. I'm not sure what kind of "substance" the other reviewer thought it lacked...yes it's a starting point for this topic, but at least he's getting some decent info out there! Thank you!
It was refreshing to see that Shane Mauss did not shy away from difficult topics, and used humor to explore an intriguing scientific topic in an accessible way. It was informative, but not preachy. Shane's comedic power is only outdone by his willingness to be honest and vulnerable. It is a great discussion on a most exciting topic, balancing the immense promise of psychedelics with a terrifying cautionary tale made palatable, enlightening, entertaining, and educational through the weaponization of comedy.
There is nothing of value here. Such a great topic, yet they could find no depth.
I'm a fan of Shane Mauss' comedy and this intriguing trip into psychedelics, the good the bad and the crazy was a fun and thought provoking ride.
