Pete Davidson and Sophie Turner were funny, but most of the other guests were average... and there were way too many jokes about small/big Jonas dicks (so weird/awkward).
You know when "comedies" have a hilarious moment in the trailer, you sit through 90 minutes and it's the only funny moment... only you don't laugh because you've seen it 16 times in the trailer... this is that. It's bland. It's safe. The first 4 minutes are some of the worst television I've ever seen. This is exactly what I'd expect if someone made their 21st (sweet 16th for our Americans, i suppose) a roast theme party.
This is rated 13+ on Netflix, so I guess they've totally missed their 7+ target. This is not a real roast of the Jonas family. It's more like a home video of the family playing roast...
Do they even do anything worth paying attention to anymore? Joe just married someone who was more famous than him and now she's dropped off the map. Waste of time and money, Netflix.
American comedy shows feel the need to make a sketch out of everything so there are many cringey moments, and some guests who add nothing to the roast formula, but the roasts are good, especially Joe's.
It's the jokes we've always heard. Kevin is the most ignored, Joe has dated everyone and Nick, well "broke up the band". However, the banter between the brothers, their wives and Kenan was fun. Loved the song by John Legend too. Unfortunately, there came Lilly Singh with her oh look I only gay woman of color in white male dominated industry and made the jokes about herself rather than the brothers themselves.
Lilly Singh should've never been on, the laughs felt forced, her jokes were cringing to listen to and was the same material she's done in other videos. You could literally summarize all of her material from all her videos into a few words. The rest were average, nothing that really made you cry from laughing so hard.
I love a good roast (I mean I am English), but a good roast this was not. Almost none of the jokes landed, everything felt really awkward as though people were too afraid to hurt each others feelings. The only act that really made me laugh was Jack Whitehall, the two stars are for him and him alone. Overall this was just bland and a poor attempt to replicate what comedy central has been doing for years to a MUCH higher standard.
Well what can I say, the humour is as cringe as it gets for a lot of the time; but a few of the roasters managed to get a chuckle out of me. Its nothing special but it's definitely a fun watch since i managed to stay entertained for the most part.
