Batting first, India once again struggled against South Africa’s disciplined bowling, being bowled out for 164 – the same total as in the opening match. Morné Hayward produced a brilliant spell of 4/31, while Lance Klusener (2/35) and others kept India in check. Despite a 70-run stand between Azharuddin (36) and Tendulkar (32), direct-hit run outs by Neil McKenzie and Herschelle Gibbs derailed India’s innings. South Africa’s chase wasn’t all smooth. Venkatesh Prasad struck twice in one over to remove Gibbs and Klusener, and India reduced the Proteas to 50/4. But a calm and mature partnership of 71 runs between Jacques Kallis (53 off 93)* and skipper Hansie Cronje (42 off 69)* guided South Africa home in 42.4 overs, keeping their unbeaten run intact. India’s campaign, meanwhile, looked bleak, with only a miracle keeping their hopes alive for the final. ⏱️ Key Moments (Highlights) India bowled out for 164 in 48.2 overs Azharuddin (36) & Tendulkar (32) add 70 for 2nd wicket Run outs: Azhar & Tendulkar dismissed by direct hits Hayward’s career-best 4/31; Klusener 2/35 India collapse after 80/1 → all out 164 Prasad strikes twice (Gibbs & Klusener in same over) SA wobble at 50/4 Kallis 53* & Cronje 42* seal 6-wicket win 🏏 Match Facts: Match: India vs South Africa, Sharjah Cup 2000 Venue: Sharjah Cricket Stadium Date: March 27, 2000 (Day/Night) Toss: India, batted first Result: South Africa won by 6 wickets (7.2 overs to spare) Man of the Match: Morné Hayward (4/31, career-best) 👉 Subscribe for more Sharjah Cup 2000 highlights, India vs South Africa rivalries, and classic ODI moments! #INDvsSA #CricketMax #Highlights #IndiaVsSouthAfrica
