In this video I show you step-by-step how to run CS2 on Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3, M4, etc.) using CrossOver, Steam, and the right graphics settings + launch options to help performance. This tutorial is for Apple Silicon Macs only – any Mac with an M-series chip. If you’re on an Intel Mac, you’re better off just using Boot Camp and running the native Windows version directly (assuming your hardware is strong enough). In this video I cover: Downloading and installing CrossOver (with the free 14-day trial) Setting up a Steam bottle the right way Choosing the best graphics backend for CS2 (DXVK vs D3DMetal vs DXMT vs Wine) The exact CS2 launch options I used. Why CS2 is super laggy at first (shader compilation on Apple Silicon) and why it gets smoother after a few matches. My resolution & graphics settings. Tips for lower-end chips (like M1/M2 Air) if your FPS is still struggling. I’m running this on an M1 Max MacBook Pro, but this method should work on most Apple Silicon Macs as long as you tweak your settings. If you try this on a different chip (M1, M2, M3, M4, Mini, iMac, Air, etc.), let me know how it runs in the comments so other Mac gamers can see real-world results.
