On May 11--12, 2012, Berklee celebrated its new alumni, as well as honorary doctors of music Don Henley, Glenn Frey, Joe Walsh, and Timothy Schmit of the Eagles, Mulatu Astatke '58, and Alison Krauss. Krauss and Astatke performed with students during the commencement concert, about which Henley said, "After what I witnessed here, I have renewed hope and faith in the future of music. It was truly inspiring." During his keynote address, Astatke welcomed the graduating seniors "to the worldwide fraternity of music."
