R.I.P. Val Kilmer. Batman Forever is a underrated Batman movie in my opinion. Maybe not as great as The Batman or the Nolan Trilogy, but just better than Batman & Robin. It actually balanced the darker tone and the lighter tone.

I must admit that I was biased before I'd even seen this movie back in 1995. I was biased because I just didn't expect it to be any good due to the absence of Michael Keaton. When I did watch it I thought it was okay. Val Kilmer did his best as Bruce Wayne although he just looked a bit too young to play a millionaire playboy-but he did do a good job. Finally we saw the debut of Robin. I thought Robin's costume was cool-it was updated for the 1990's. Once again the villains stole the show. Jim Carrey (a truly funny man) made a great Riddler and Tommy Lee Jones made a superb Two Face. Nicole Kidman made a great love interest for Batman but I would have liked to see more interaction between them in the film. Whilst I think the first two Batman films were the best, I have no problem in recommending this film to any Batman fan.

This film should have ruined many careers, but that was reserved for the even worse Batman and Robin. The original conception of the film had taken a horrible turn, not only in killing the franchise, but also turning the series into some sugar rush/caffeine trip which couldn't be stopped. A bad film, Val Kilmer was absolutely horrible in his role as Bruce Wayne, going through each scene like he had better things to do. Also, Jim Carrey's over the top view of The Riddler was far too annoying, making his character mostly unnecessary. Sadly, Tommy Lee Jones graced this horrible film, leaving a dark spot on his resume. Watch this film for the U2 song, but stay away from the rest of it.

I don't understand the low rating unless it's from all the Furrys that think these are documentaries. Val Kilmer is absolutely the best Batman, the costumes wake up the senses and Jim Carry what is the first entertaining villain of the bunch.

Batman Forever isn't for everyone but I thought Val Kilmer did a decent job as the Caped Crusader in a movie with a galaxy of stars. Drew Barrymore was in it! The humor is there for sure, and Jim Carrey pretty much chewed the screen I guess. It's a shame Val didn't appear in more Batmans but still who knows maybe he will as he approaches retirement.

"Batman Forever" is a lot better than its reputation. It has a very good story with two great villains. Tommy Lee Jones does a great job but Jim Carrey is even better. Once Carrey puts on the green suit, wow, hold on to your hats. He's great to watch. "Batman Forever" has a lot of laughs and some terrific action. It's also a great looking movie that has a some terrific use of colors. I liked "Batman Forever" when I saw it in the theater (Fresh Meadows, NY) and I really like it now. I need to watch this one more often. Honorable mention: The Flaming Lips' song "Bad Days".
