Doğan is the surgeon son of Tahir Hancıoğlu and Saadet Hancıoğlu, both merchants in the maritime trade. Doğan has broken away from his Hancıoğlu family and built a life for himself in another city. He has an older brother, Sinan, and two younger sisters, Melek and Gülüşan. Putting aside all his grudges, Doğan travels to Istanbul for his sister's wedding, where he meets Çağla, a young lawyer who has come to apply for a job at the family firm.
