الفيلم قائم على القصة الحقيقية لعريفة البحرية اليافعة الاستثنائية (ميجان ليفي)، التي تمكنت مع كلبها العسكري من إنقاذ العديد من أرواح الجنود أثناء انتشارهم في (العراق).. وهذا عندما يتم تعيينها لتنظيف الوحدة (K9) فتُمنَح الكلب (ريكس) وفرصة تدريبه، ليتمكنا سويًا من إتمام ما يزيد عن مائة مهمة في البلاد.
