يصمم المخترع ويبر مخبأ ليحتمي به مع زوجته في حالة الحرب وعندما تتوتر الأحداث، ويتوقع الجميع بدء الحرب، يدخل المخترع وزوجته المخبأ، ليتسبب حادث في إغلاق أقفال المخبأ المصممة لإبقاء من داخلها محميا لمدة 35 عاما، لحين زوال تأثير الإشعاع النووي وفي المخبأ تضع الزوجة ابنها آدم والذي يتربى على ثقافة توقفت عند بداية الستينيات، حتى تأتي اللحظة المنتظرة، وتُفتَح أبواب المخبأ بعد 35 عاما من الإغلاق
