ARE WE DONE YET😀
🌪️
source: Are We Done Yet?
This sequel to Are We There Yet? (2005) is never quite as satisfying as the first movie despite having the same cast as before and it being a remake of the RKO classic Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House (1948). I was waiting to warm to it like I had the first one but I found this to be much more annoying with silly gags, slapstick humour and John C. McGinley's over the top and often improvised performance. Where Brian Levant might have reigned him in Steve Carr let's McGinley run away with himself and I just didn't enjoy what he was doing here, although I really like him as an actor. There have been better remakes of Mr. Blandings, most notably Tom Hanks physical star turn in The Money Pit (1987), but Ice Cube is as good as he was in the first one and manages to carry this and makes it worth watching. It's still light, fun family fare with a warm heart but where Are We There Yet is a strong 5 Are We Done Yet is a very weak 5 but ok as a companion piece to the first.
